Ethics for Everyone

With issues of corporate integrity and accountability in the news daily, perhaps it’s time for a refresher course in ethics. This training programme covers it all — from taking home a few office supplies, to ethnic jokes, to insider trading, and more.

Ethics for Everyone teaches participants:

  • The Three Rs of ethics: respect, responsibility and results
  • How to say ‘no’ with tact
  • How to manage conflicting rights
  • How to ‘walk the (ethics) talk’

Ethics for Everyone illustrates the cause-and-effect of corporate and individual responsibility, offering do-able solutions, including how to make decisions that ensure a greater ethical response to business issues.

Values and Ethics: Situations for Discussion

The success of organisations who train their employees on ethics offers proof that honesty really is the best policy - for both your organisation and your employees. That’s why it’s critical for you to clearly communicate exactly what the ethical and moral expectations are for your employees. Your organisation’s bottom line depends on it!  Values and Ethics can help your organisation reduce wasted time and money, while increasing employee morale, confidentiality and productivity.

Synopsis

Values and Ethics is a series of short dramatic “What Would You Do?” scenarios. Each is followed by a short session break to allow for group discussion. After each discussion, participants can summarise by communicating your organisation’s policy on the situation presented.

Some session situations include:

  • Using an organisation’s toll-free number, copier and office supplies for personal use
  • Abusing confidential privileges
  • Wasting company time
  • Not being honest with co-workers and managers

You will learn to use the three-step checklist to decide if each situation is ethical: 1) Is it legal? 2) Is it a win-win situation? 3) Would you do the same thing if someone you respected were watching?

Key Training Points:

  • Recognise unethical employee behaviours
  • Implement ethical business practices
  • Understand your corporate ethics philosophy
  • Respond correctly to ethical situations
  • Develop a clear understanding of business ethics
  • Reduce wasted time, money and productivity
  • Discuss the three-step checklist to ethical decision making

Accountability That Works

What would your organisation be like if no one ever asked, "Whose fault is this?" What if we could all let go of the 'blame game' and view accountability as a method for achieving increased personal and team effectiveness?

Most employees take on new projects with the best intentions, seeking only a successful result. But lack of clarity not lack of commitment often finds their goals unrealised. Accountability That Works! presents a simple process structure - before, during and after - common to all tasks. When handled properly, this structure will ensure the clarity and completion of any task.

The "before" phase: RESPONSIBILITY - When an individual or team establishes a mindset of ownership for the task, taking complete responsibility that it will get done.

The "during" phase: EMPOWERMENT - When the owner(s) does whatever is necessary to complete the task. This might include action steps; a time line; determining who and what are key resources; implementing creative problem solving; and determining how to complete the task without other tasks suffering.

The "after" phase: ACCOUNTABILITY - When the responsible party(ies) owns the outcome of the task. This is when results, good or bad, are acknowledged (and the temptation to place blame on external factors or co-workers is overcome). It is when the owner(s) allows learning from the experience to take place.

Accountability That Works! teaches that accountability is much more than a paper trail. It is an ongoing opportunity to gain focus, accomplish more, streamline work processes, and create greater team effectiveness. .

Accountability That Works! is an exciting, innovative training programme that will provide everyone in your organisation with the tools they need for a greater sense of empowerment, a higher level of effectiveness, and increased productivity. Participants will learn how to:

  • ensure every task has a clearly defined owner and agreement.
  • empower themselves to keep their agreements.
  • hold others accountable for their agreements
  • be accountable without being defensive.
  • learn from mistakes, continually improving personally and professionally
