Gail Straub Circle of Compassion
"This is a book of great authenticity, practicality and heart." - Sharon Salzburg, author of A Heart as Wide as the World: stories on the path of loving-kindness.
"It is a wonderful achievement of the book to disclose so many of the secret bridges between the inner hemisphere of the soul and the outer world of action. The balance Straub recommends will be crucial in our new millennium."
Based on Gail Straub’s book The Rhythm of Compassion: Caring for Self, Connection with Society, these short meditations are designed to help you learn to find and follow your own unique rhythm of compassion. Circle of Compassion uses the powerful metaphor of the rhythmic nature of breathing to show you how to help yourself while helping others. The series of meditations is an ongoing exercise for getting to the root of healing, developing compassion, and putting compassion into action - to heal ourselves, others, and the world around us.
Gail Straub has been a teacher and activist for more than two decades. In 1981, with her husband David Gershon, she founded Empowerment Training Programs. They’ve taught all over America and in Europe, Russia, China, and East Asia and have together written Empowerment: The Art of Your Life as You Want It. In 1992, Gail began offering advanced training for students who wanted to integrate spiritual development with the social and ecological responsibility. Her highly acclaimed earlier book, The Rhythm of Compassion, grew out of that work.
Gail Straub lives her husband in the Hudson River Valley in New York.
